Do you install the air condition units?

Not us as a business but we sub contract qualified tradesmen in Gold Coast to install air conditioners from South East Queensland to Northern New South Wales.

How much electricity does my air condition unit use?

Each air conditioner will vary on how much electricity they use. Factors could be the brand, kw size, temperature setting etc.

How much does it cost to run my air con?

It is less than you think! This answer has many factors that affect the cost – size of the room, temperature unit is set on, how many kws the unit is etc. Studies have shown it ranges from $0.25 – $0.95 cents per hour to run when cooling and $0.13 – $0.36 cents per hour to run when heating.

How can I reduce the running costs of my air con?

Easy ways to reduce the costs of running your air conditioner include:

  • Installing the right air conditioner unit for the size of the room
  • Maintaining consistent temperature
  • Closing doors/window and shutting blinds/curtains
  • Regular air conditioning maintenance
  • House insulation

How long do air conditioners last for?

This answer depends on the brand of unit, how often you use it, how powerful you set the unit, if you regularly service it etc. They normally last around 10 years – longer if you maintain the unit well by yearly servicing and less if you live coastally.

Are air conditioners environmentally friendly?

Newer air conditioning models are designed to reduce the units energy consumption and reduce carbon footprint. Upgrading to newer models can help you and the environment out. Picking the right air conditioner system can also influence the environment – choosing a 2kw split unit for a small room instead of a 9kw. Can I apply for an energy efficient Government Rebate?

Selected models are eligible for rebate of up to $400! Check the below models to see if your new unit is eligible:

 

  • Fujitsu KMCA, KMTA, LHTDP, LHTA, LHTC, LDTA range
  • Fujitsu LVCC, LFCC, LRLA, KRLA, LHTB, LHTA range (*requires additional component for rebate)
  • Haier 1HRA, M3ERG range

 

Under 4kw = $100

4kw – 10kw = $200

Over 10kw = $400

 

There are a few factors to take note before you apply:

  • Unit must be purchased on or after January 1st 2018
  • Queensland residents can only apply for 1 rebate per household
  • Air conditioner unit must be minimum 4 star energy rating – includes splits, ducted systems and window air conditioners.
  • This does not include freestanding portable air conditioners and evaporative air conditioners.

Not all applications are guaranteed for a rebate. The Government has committed $20 million for the rebate. The scheme will end when the funding is exhausted, so payment of a rebate is not guaranteed. The Queensland Government may also cancel the rebate scheme at any time by publishing a notice.
